Most businesses are guessing about AI readiness. Here's why that's dangerous.

Every week I talk to business owners and team leads who say the same thing:

"We know we should be using AI. We're just not sure where to start."

They're not wrong. AI is everywhere now - in their competitors' workflows, in the tools their clients expect, in the headlines they read every morning. The pressure to "do something with AI" is real.

But here's the problem: most companies have no idea how ready they actually are.

The AI Readiness Gap

According to Deloitte's 2025 AI Readiness Index, organizations that score above 70% on AI readiness assessments are three times more likely to implement AI successfully within 12 months.

McKinsey's research backs this up - companies with high AI readiness scores see 25% faster revenue growth than those without structured assessment frameworks.

Yet most SMBs score between 35-55 when properly assessed. They think they're further along than they are.

This isn't a knowledge gap. It's a visibility gap. They can't fix what they can't measure.

Why Guessing Doesn't Work

When companies guess about AI readiness, they typically make one of two mistakes:

Mistake 1: They start too big. They invest in expensive AI tools before their data infrastructure can support them. The tools fail. They blame AI.

Mistake 2: They start too scattered. They pilot AI in random places without understanding where their actual bottlenecks are. Nothing sticks.

Both mistakes share the same root cause: no baseline measurement.

You wouldn't start a fitness program without knowing your current weight. You shouldn't start AI adoption without knowing your current readiness.

What Actually Matters

AI readiness isn't one thing. It's at least five or six dimensions working together:

  • Data maturity - Is your data centralised, accurate, accessible?
  • Process documentation - Are your workflows mapped or just tribal knowledge?
  • Team capability - Can your people collaborate with AI tools?
  • Technical infrastructure - Can your systems integrate with AI services?
  • Strategic alignment - Do you know where AI fits your business goals?

A score in one area doesn't predict the others. A company might have excellent data but zero process documentation. Or strong leadership buy-in but weak infrastructure.

You need to see all dimensions to know where to focus.

This is why I built CogniFlow

For the past few months, I've been building a tool that puts a real number on AI readiness - not a guess, not a feeling, an actual score based on structured assessment.

CogniFlow does three things:

  1. Assesses your AI readiness in 15 minutes - 15 questions across 6 categories. Answer with your voice or typing, whatever you feel more comfortable with.
  2. Shows you exactly where you stand - Not just one number, but a breakdown by dimension so you see your strengths and gaps.
  3. Gives you a path forward - Specific recommendations based on your answers. Not generic advice - actionable next steps.
  4. MVP Testing Launching Friday 12 December - You're First

CogniFlow goes live on Friday December 12. It's free during our MVP phase - I want real feedback from real users to make it better.

And because you're on this list, you get something extra: a free 1:1 consulting session to review your results together and build your action plan.

Only 100 spots for the consulting offer.
